basically what’s goin on since i have chicken scratch writing:
-jim comes to strickler for a heart to heart about losin his humanity 10 years ago
-strickler expects some big deep insecurity
-jim just mad he only has 8 fingers now after a life of 10 fingers
-strickler has no idea if jim is serious or stupid (the answer is both)
Strickler became invested in his human life. There was no doubt about that. He was emotionally invested in many of the people he had come to meet over the years, sometimes making him question if changing their world for his own advantage was truly just. When this doubt hit, he only had to think of watching Nomura be treated as lesser for being an Asian woman, watching humans tear each other to shreds like animals, watching dozens of wars be waged, won and lost over and over, becoming pointless in his eyes. When he remembered that, he no longer doubted that humans, whether they knew it or not, were unfit to rule.
And that’s why he became a history teacher - to reinforce his perspective.
